Estrategia para abatirlo

The biggest difficulty in taming a Therizinosaurus is the sheer power for which survivors crave them. They're territorial and capable of dealing high damage in a few short blows, meaning certain death for any mount that isn't leveled enough. They also deal damage to humans on the mount and can effortlessly knock out the rider. Naturally the best strategy is to find a tall rock or small cliff to attack from, and it must be steep since this animal can cross a lot of difficult terrain. You'll need a fast moving mount, preferably Procoptodon, Beelzebufo, or Utahraptor to evade attacks. Since Therizinosaurus is a prey animal, you'll find it best to kite it into a trap or tame one close to the beach where you can defend it from predators. A low level won't take a lot of arrows to knock out but you'll have to keep steady pace since they'll run when torpor gets too high. You may want to carry spike walls to protect the target from nearby Raptors, Dilophosaurus, or more dangerous predators depending on where you knock one out. Taming them takes a great while so kibble and soothing balm(Mobile) will speed up the process. Their torpor also depletes incredibly fast and they could wake up if you're distracted for too long, so carrying at least 100 biotoxin or a few hundred narcotics will keep them asleep. Once they're awake, you don't have to worry about the Therizinosaurus being killed, since they're one of the strongest herbivores in the game.

Combate

Strategy

Therizinos are highly aggressive for Herbivores and will not hesitate to attack any players or tames that approach too closely. Keep in mind that although it isn't as flashy or impressive looking as a Rex Rex, its power rivals it. Therizinosaurs are much more powerful than an Allosaurus Allosaurus and not to be taken lightly. It is not recommended to take a Therizino head on with a tame unless you are certain it can take a beating, and certainly don't attempt melee with one if unmounted as they are quite capable of shredding armour very quickly. Fast mounts, high perches and ranged weapons are recommended.

Armamento

Shotgun works well if aimed at the head. Four rounds may down it from close range, depending on server settings, level, quality of gun, etc.

Peligros

The Therizinosaurus' attacks are capable of damaging both mounts and their riders in a single attack whenever it randomly uses its bite attack - although the rider must still be in range of the attack. Approaching a Therizinosaurus with shorter mounts is not advised as they can distribute Torpor to the rider of a mount when hit by the bite attack. Therizinosaurus can aggro on a player inside a house if they wander too close, potentially tearing down anything not made of metal, so it's best to monitor the location of any that wander nearby.

It's worth noting that due to the shared torpor effect, the Therizinosaurus can knock a player off their mount unconscious.

Debilidades

No puede curarse tan bien como un Rex, a menos que se emplee un pastel vegetal dulce. Attacking behind spikes with a pike can allow you to kill one on foot, as its head will pop over and they won't be able to hit you. Also, it seems to have a fear of deep water - even if you are shooting it it won’t enter it. Obviously a crossbow or raft is required if you can’t shoot it from the other side of a lake.

Utilidades

Roles

  • Recolector: While some specialist harvesters such as the Castoroides Castoroides can collect and carry far more of their favored material, thanks to their weight reduction, not a single creature even comes close to the sheer volume and wide variety of items the Therizinosaur is capable of gathering. With the exceptions of Stone Stone, Flint Flint, Metal Metal, Crystal Crystal, Obsidian Obsidian, Gem Gems, Silica Pearls Silica Pearls, Element Ore (Aberration) Element Ore, and a few others; the Therizinosaur is capable of harvesting anything, and although it does not possess any weight reduction for the materials it gathers, it is very often able to outpace its competitors through superior speed and agility, putting them to shame. Another thing that puts the Therizinosaur ahead of the competition is its ability to focus specifically on what kind of materials it wants to collect, through three different types of attacks: a power attack and a delicate attack with its claws, and a bite attack. Similar to the Moschops Moschops, a Therizinosaur gains access to harvesting level points each time it levels up, separate from its primary level points. These can be spent to increase the efficiency in which the Therizinosaur gathers materials with its claws, dependent on either its power attack, or delicate attack: up to 88 points and a maximum of 165.7% in one category. Additionally, just like the Moschops Moschops, it is an Autonomous Harvester; allowing you to set it on Wander and leave it alone to collect materials by itself. Through its ability to harvest nearly anything with extreme efficiency, the Therizinosaur makes an invaluable companion for anything that requires what it can gather; whether it be feeding yourself or your tames, or collecting crafting materials. (Level Weight and Melee Damage).
    • Power Harvest: With the power harvest, the Therizinosaur gathers Wood, Thatch, Rare Mushrooms, Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat, Raw Fish Meat, Raw Prime Fish Meat, Hide, Chitin, Keratin, Leech Blood, and Organic Polymer. Additionally, while the power harvest cannot collect these materials from nodes, they can be collected from corpses: oil, Electronics, Scrap Metal, Element Dust, Silica Pearls, Black Pearls, Silk, and Sulfur. Pumping harvest levels into the Power Harvest category will increase the yield gathered from all things harvested using the power attack, however, the power attack specifically gathers these resources more efficiently than the other attacks: Wood, and Rare Mushrooms.
    • Delicate Harvest: With the delicate harvest, the Therizinosaur gathers Fiber, Silk, Rare Flowers, Plant Species X Seed, Plant Species Y Seed, Wood, Thatch, Sap (from Joshua Trees), Cactus Sap (from bush cactus nodes only), Rare Mushrooms, Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat, Raw Fish Meat, Raw Prime Fish Meat, Hide, Chitin, Keratin, Leech Blood, and Organic Polymer. Additionally, while the Delicate Harvest cannot collect these materials from nodes, they can be collected from corpses: oil, Electronics, Scrap Metal, Element Dust, Silica Pearls, Black Pearls, and Sulfur. Pumping harvest levels into the Delicate Harvest category will increase the yield gathered from all things harvested using the delicate attack, however, the delicate attack specifically gathers these resources more efficiently than the other attacks: Thatch, and Organic Polymer.
    • Bite Harvest: With the bite attack, the Therizinosaur gathers Berries, wild Crops from their respective nodes (Ragnarok only), Berry and Crop Seeds, Wood, Cactus Sap (from both tree and bush cactus nodes), Hide, Chitin, and Scrap Metal (from corpses only). While the bite attack cannot be upgraded like the power and delicate attacks, it still gathers these resources more effectively than either, even when they are fully leveled: Hide, Chitin, and Scrap Metal. Additionally, the bite attack deals minor amounts of Torpor Damage, but the amount inflicted is too small to render it effective for taming purposes.
  • Combat Specialist: The Therizinosaur can be built for more than just harvesting materials; despite being an herbivore with a seemingly docile behavior and appearance, it is still a theropod, and like its cousin the Rex: it is capable of dishing out some serious damage, and with a similarly high health pool, tank damage as well. Its base damage of 52, while not quite as powerful compared to a Rex or a Spino, is still near to their damage ouput; and is quite impressive for an herbivore: only outshined among its kind by the Mammoth's stomp attack, and the Brontosaurus and Titanosaur. Compared to the Rex and Spino, however, the rate at which it is able to attack is slightly faster; allowing it to, potentially, have a higher DPS over a prolonged engagement. Finally, it has and edge that its purely carnivorous cousins do not have access to: Sweet Vegetable Cake. The cake, which can be consumed once every 30 seconds, restores up to 10% of an herbivore tame's health during that 30 second period, and will automatically be consumed if it is in the tame's inventory while the animal is below 85% health. This ability to quickly restore health with the cake, if you have the resources to bake them, makes Therizinosaurs ideal for killing bosses, particularly the Dragon, especially if the cake is supplemented with a Daeodon's AoE healing effect and the courage roar of a Yutyrannus. For this role: level primarily Health and Melee Damage.
  • Travel Mount: While not particularly fast compared to some other creatures, the Therizinosaur is considered a large-class creature, and is only bothered by a select few wild animals: e.g. anything that will leave a tamed Rex alone will also leave a Therizino alone. This makes traveling through hazardous areas, especially if you plan to harvest materials in those places, a much safer endeavor. For this role: level primarily Stamina and Movement Speed, and add Weight as required.

  • Therizinosaurus was first revealed by Drake on 06/27/2015 [1]
  • The dossier was revealed on 09/07/2015 [2]
  • Be careful when having a tamed Therizinosaurus follow you around. If it hits a tree as a response to an attack and it has a lot of points in Power Harvesting it can unintentionally encumber itself from the sheer amounts of wood it can acquire. This can leave a dismounted survivor vulnerable or cause an unwary survivor leading a large pack of dinosaurs to mistakenly leave it behind. As of v254.0 this issue can be rectified by disabling resource gathering on the Therizinosaurus.
  • Some carnivores that are smaller than the Therizinosaurus appear to ignore it when mounted by a player (such as Raptor raptors/Carno carnos).
  • Compared to other "Tranq and Tame" creatures that have a kibble, the Therizinosaurus is among the top of the list for taking the longest to tame. Due to their fast torpor drop and the longevity of the tame, this can make domesticating one a daunting task. However, the Therizino is very adaptable when it comes to harvesting resources. Since it's also a very powerful battle mount, these qualities mean that having just a few at your disposal can remove the need for several other dinos to be cared for.
  • Therizinosaurus multiensis roughly translates into "Multiple-Sword Reaping Lizard".
  • Majority of players refers the Therizinosaurus informally as "Tickle Monster", "Tickle Chicken", "Fear Turkey", "Danger Floof", "Longclaws", "Therizino", Scissors, Murder Chicken, or "Sid" (Referencing the Sloth character in the film Ice Age). However, there are other "slothlike" creatures in Ark, so therefore the nickname is misleading.
  • Despite the dossier stating the Therizinosaurus as 'Aggressive', the in-game creature is actually 'Territorial' and will only attack the player if they get too close.
  • The dossier mistakenly calls it a “predator”. It is thought to be an herbivore or an insectivore instead.
  • You can now get pretty close to a Therizinosaurus before it aggros on you, like with the Argentavis.
  • The face of the Therizinosaurus was changed to have a beak rather than a mouth.
  • On ARK: Survival Evolved Mobile, Therizinosaurus will be targeted by every predator making taming them much more difficult.
